Newington Traditional Fish Bar is a locally owned establishment serving the finest fish and chips in Edinburgh.
Newly opened and situated in the bustling Newington area, its clean and spacious interior is almost as welcoming as the friendly staff that serve you.
The business is family owned by three partners, Vareek Breaden and Bill and Gwen Bowles.
Our thesis is to prepare freshly cooked Scottish fish and chips with the emphasis on quality and value for money.
We use nothing but the finest seafood, and pride ourselves on using sustainable varieties, being advocates of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). We opened our restaurant on the 21st Feb 2011.
Vareek is the nephew of Bill and Gwen and both Vareek and Bill have seafaring backgrounds and so appreciate the finest quality produce that the seas can offer.
The concept of the Newington Traditional Fish Bar was therefore created to give the patrons of Edinburgh consistently fantastic quality fish and chips to a quality that we ourselves would demand.
We deemed there to be a gap in the market, where we could provide lovers of fish and chips in Edinburgh great value for money for quality food and get their food cooked for them when ordered, not before, ensuring consistent quality and freshness each and every time.
Due to demand for a comfortable sit-in service to enjoy our food cooked to the same high standards, we opened our restaurant in February 2011.
Here we aim to relive bygone years and reintroduce the concept of the 'Fish Tea' where all the meals come with bread, butter, mushy peas and a pot of tea, in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
So, come and try it for yourself...you will not find a better batter in Edinburgh. See you soon
